HUMANISM AND TECHNOLOGIES

The PhD course in “Humanism and technologies” situates itself in the strategic meeting spaces between the humanities disciplines and the new technologies. It bets on the potentials of the interaction between these categories of knowledge for a human-scale innovation, one of the fundamental challenges of our time. Its privileged research areas are: archives and digital libraries, databases for historical and cultural research, computational linguistics, new tools for literary analysis, interpretation and text processing, and anthropological and ethical implications of techno-sciences. It intends to give humanists the skills to dialogue on an equal footing with the world of the new technologies, thus responding to a need that is increasingly felt not only in research institutions, but also in the business world and in that of governance.
