As regards the research field, the Department is composed of 4 sections: Ancient and Modern Languages; Linguistics, Literature and Philology; History; Philosophy and Human Sciences.
The main thematic areas of research are related to the preservation of the classical disciplines, particularly the ancient ones, and the study of Eastern civilizations, the Arab-Islamic, Indian and Confucian area.
The cinematographic and audiovisual language, the theatrical culture, music studies, visual arts and the historical artistic tradition are object of analysis for their fundamental contribution to knowledge and humanistic education
The Department also works on the production of innovative models in various fields, from the management of cultural heritage to publishing and digital archiving.
